Esterified Estrogens General Information

Menest (Esterified Estrogens) is indicated to use by women to help lessen the symptoms of menopause like hot flashes and vaginal dryness. These symptoms are caused by the body making less estrogen.

Menopause is a natural part of aging that commonly happens between 45 and 55 years of age, as a woman’s estrogen levels decline.

If you are using this drug to treat symptoms only in and around the vagina, products applied directly inside the vagina. It should be considered before medications that are taken by mouth, injected, or absorbed through the skin.

Certain estrogen products may be used by men and women to treat cancers. It may also be used by women after menopause to prevent osteoporosis or bone loss.

How does Menest (Esterified Estrogens) work?

Menest (Esterified Estrogens) controls the pituitary secretion of gonadotropins, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone. It is through a negative feedback system. Estrogen replacement lessens elevated levels of these hormones.

Estrogens are responsible for the growth and preservation of the female reproductive system and secondary sexual characteristics. Estradiol is the principal intracellular human estrogen. It is more potent than estrone and estriol at the receptor level. It is also the primary estrogen secreted prior to menopause.
