Alitretinoin Gel is a treatment used to treat a skin problem. It’s a treatment prescribed for patients with skin sores. This treatment is used for treating “Kaposi’s Sarcoma”. It’s a kind of condition related to AIDS. Alitretinoin Gel works to affect skin cell growth.

Alitretinoin gel is indicated as a topical treatment. It’s a treatment for a person with Kaposi’s sarcoma. It may also use to treat different conditions. People who are using this treatment may experience some side effects. This treatment is prescribed for adults only. It is not recommended for the use of children.

How does it work?

Alitretinoin contains “Toctino” as an active ingredient. This property belongs to “Retinoids” group of the drug. This drug is known as a form of vitamin A. It works to reduce the turnover of skin cells. It also has the ability to reduce skin inflammation such as:

  • Swelling of the skin
  • Skin redness
  • Pain in the affected area
  • Other related symptoms

This drug is effective in treating different conditions. It relieves pain which is a caused of a certain condition.

How much to take?

Follow the right usage of this medication. Do not exceed the limit use of this drug. Always check the label and read the dosing information stated. Alitretinoin Gel is applied directly to the affected area 2 times a day. The use and duration of this treatment will depend on how you respond to the drug.

How to take?

Alitretinoin Gel is a topical preparation. You should not take this treatment by mouth. Before you begin, conduct a skin test first. Apply a small of it on your skin. Wait for any allergic reaction to occur. If there’s none you may start the treatment. Wash the affected area with soap and water. Pat with a clean cloth and let it dry. Apply a liberal amount of the gel on the affected area. Let it dry for about 3 to 5 minutes. Do not cover or wash the treated area. Wash your hands before and after the treatment.

  • Avoid applying this treatment to your unaffected skin. It may put your risk to side effects.
  • Do not cover the treated area with bandage or cloth.
  • Avoid this gel from getting into your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Do not apply this gel to open wounds or broken skin.
  • Do not apply lotion or insect repellents together with this gel.
